event coverage

On-field and event coverage is an important part of the Ottawa High Performance Centre's commitment to serving Ottawa's sporting community. Our therapists have experience with and are available to provide event coverage for all levels of sport, from recreational tournaments to elite level/professional sports teams.

Below are some of the questions we are frequently asked about our field and event coverage:

What services does the OHPC provide during field and event coverage?
. Sports wrapping and support taping
. Head injury and concussion care
. Emergency spinal care
. On-field injury assessment and care
. General first aid

When is the OHPC available for field and event coverage?
. We are available weekdays, weeknights and weekends
. Two weeks advance notice is recommended

Who is eligible to use your service?
. All sport teams
. All levels of sports (recreational through to elite)
. All types of sporting events (tournaments and single games)

What are the qualifications of your staff members?
. All event coverage is performed by certified athletic therapists
. All therapists possess current CPR and First Aid certification
. All are certified as Sports First Responders

What are the advantages of using a certified athletic therapist?
. Prevents liability issues for coaches and/or supervisors
. Provides peace of mind for parents and the participants
. Ensures participants of immediate care and management of acute injuries which will reduce overall injury time
. A certified athletic therapist is professionally trained to deal with sports injuries on site
. Clinical follow-up of field injuries is available
